Compression Clothing

for Kids

Compression clothing can help mood, sleep, and other brain functions.

Compression clothing works to counteract the effects of cortisol (the stress hormone). This decreases what they call the "fight or flight" response of the sympathetic nervous system. Helping to increase dopamine (via tactile input) and serotonin (via proprioceptive input) helps mood, sleep, and other brain functions. Both neurotransmitters together are known as the "happy hormones".

What do compression shirts do?

Compression is a Tactile input and a proprioceptive input and both work together to counteract the effects of cortisol (the stress hormone)  This decreases what they call the "flight or fight" response of the sympathetic nervous system. They both increase the effects of the parasympathetic nervous system (heart rate, digestion, rest, etc) by releasing dopamine (via tactile input)  that control reward, pleasure emotions centers and serotonin (via proprioceptive input) helps mood, sleep, other brain functions.

Compression Undershirt

Our sensory compression undershirt is made of the same comfy 4-way stretch fabric which allows your child to play creatively and actively, all while providing deep pressure calming and organizing sensory input. The larger arm holes and lower neck line style is more of an undershirt than an out shirt, but can work either way.

Long Sleeve Compression Shirt

As a Pediatric Occupational Therapist I noticed long ago how limited the compression clothing market was for kids. The benefits of compression are best felt when your child feel it throughout the day, not just during a short session with an OT. As a result, we developed long sleeve compression shirts for babies and toddlers in a variety of sizes and colors.

What Makes Kozie Different?

Breathable Material

Founded by a Pediatric Occupational Therapist

Made in the USA

What material is compression clothing made of?

At Kozie Clothes we consciously make all our compression clothing out of Nylon spandex instead of cotton. Why? Let's start with fit. Nylon spandex is stronger and has tremendous elasticity that returns to its original shape. The 4-way stretch moves with your child no matter what activity they're engaged in, providing uninterrupted compression opposed to other fabrics. Nylon spandex feels light and comfortable while the fit offers tight compression. Other advantages include better moisture-wicking a property that moves sweat away from the skin and dries quickly. This ensures clothing is extremely breathable. Believe it or not, cotton can hold up to a quarter of its weight in water! Nylon spandex is used in many swimsuits and does not weigh you down when in contact with water the way cotton does. In a nutshell, Nylon spandex is the best way to get consistent comfortable compression, moisture-wicking, and breathability allowing the child's muscles to move comfortably during play.
